DIC stops working the moment there is plastic in the light path, because the polarised beam it depends on is depolarised by the vessel. That rules it out for anything in a culture flask or dish. Hoffman modulation contrast produces comparable relief imaging without polarisation, which is why it remains the technique of choice for live cells in plastic.
This TE200 arrives configured for that work: Modulation Optics 20x and 40x ELWD Plan Fluor Hoffman objectives alongside Nikon Plan Apo 2x and 10x DIC L, three filter cubes covering UV, green and red excitation, a mercury lamp power supply and the control box.
