Most 60x objectives force a choice: high numerical aperture, or enough working distance to reach cells through the base of a flask. The LUCPlanFL N answers that with a correction collar spanning 0.1 mm to 1.3 mm of cover glass thickness. Dial it to match your vessel and the aberration that normally softens the image through thick plastic is corrected out.
For anyone screening live cultures at high magnification without transferring cells to a coverslip, that collar is the entire reason this objective exists.
