Fluorescence lifetime, which measures what intensity cannot
Intensity readings drift with concentration, photobleaching and path length. Lifetime does not. The nanoseconds a fluorophore spends in its excited state depend on its local environment rather than how much of it is present, which is why lifetime measurement underpins FRET, ion sensing and binding studies where an intensity number would be untrustworthy.
This is a complete Chronos DFD system: ISS spectrometer and plate reader, controller, a Hamamatsu H7422P-40 cooled GaAsP photomultiplier and an Omicron QuixX 488-60PS picosecond diode laser. Digital frequency domain is the approach that gets lifetime data at plate-reader speed rather than one cuvette at a time. Read the condition note before ordering.
