At 0.30 numerical aperture a spherical singlet produces spherical aberration severe enough to make the focus useless. An aspheric surface corrects that in a single element, which is why every fibre coupling and laser collimation assembly at this aperture uses one rather than a stack of spheres.
Small format at 4.70 mm diameter and f = 6.20 mm, D-ZK3 glass with a coating covering 350 to 700 nm. New in original packaging.
