The result is markedly better stiffness and far less angular deviation as the carriage travels, and for optical alignment that deviation is exactly what you are trying to eliminate. A stage that walks off-axis by a few microradians over its travel turns a fibre coupling task into a fight.
This ULTRAlign is new and unused, 13 mm of travel with M4 and M6 mounting.
