UV-enhanced silicon with six decades of gain behind it
Ordinary silicon photodiodes lose responsivity fast below 400 nm, where the absorption happens too close to the surface to be collected. UV-enhanced silicon is processed to fix that, which is what makes this detector useful in a region most photodiodes quietly ignore.
The integrated amplifier spans 10⁴ to 10⁹ V/A with a selectable time constant, so the same head handles a strong beam and a faint signal without changing hardware. Read the condition note: no cables or power supply are included and the unit is untested in its field of use.
