Argon lines at 488 and 514, which nothing else reproduces exactly
The argon ion lines sit where a great deal of established fluorescence chemistry was designed to sit. Diode sources approximate them and for most work that is fine, but flow cytometry protocols, older confocal systems and Raman setups were calibrated against argon and behave differently when the excitation moves a few nanometres.
This head covers 450 to 515 nm at 150 mW continuous wave, manufactured February 2014. Two things to note before ordering: it is untested, and no power supply is included. It is a Class IIIb laser product requiring appropriate controls and eye protection.

Condition
Sold untested. The head was recovered from a laboratory in which it was in service, but function was not verified before listing and it is priced on that basis. Minor surface wear and scuffs are present on the black casing and metal base. The cooling fan and attached power connector cable are undamaged. No power supply is included. Photographs show the exact item you receive.
